We built our home in 1986, decided to go "high end" with the windows and round tops and installed over 25 Marvin Windows. The window sills started failing within 5 years.

All have been replaced with composite. The seal between the windows has failed and one after another the windows are clouding. Marvin was in a class action lawsuit over the windowsills. They offered to send us replacement wood.

All have been replaced with composite. We have replaced all of the glides ( track that the windows are on ) and are now taking window after window to a glass supplier to replace the clouded glass.

I would think this was normal after 30 years of use--(though the failure started almost right away) except my parents had installed similar windows by Anderson over 45 years ago.

My parents were elderly, had the windows washed, but that was about it.

I recently washed them myself and found to my surprise--no rotting window sills and no clouded windows. HMMMMM........I could only surmise that Marvin is "pretty" but poor quality. Anderson, at least back then, were meant to last. My daughter lives in a condo with windows installed in 1925--though drafty, they have not one bit of rot on the sills and believe me, they had not been maintained.

So, I can assume that it is possible to make a product that does not self-destruct can be built.

Marvin is expensive JUNK. DDanielson
