Poor quality for the price

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Purchased 2 new doors for $5,000+ each. Aluminum trim panels are not flush at seams, sealant sloppily applied, door latch needed repair (by great service tech), gasket buckled on fixed panel, sharp edges at top and bottom (may cut dogs feet), gaps between aluminum clad and wood. Build quality does not match price. NOT HAPPY!

Marvin Windows And Doors - Delivery issues

After 7 months we received the window but the trim made by Marvin was wrong. Waiting again.

Still no contact

Original review Oct 03, 2023
I ordered and paid over $11k for 3 Marvin windows in March 2023 and after 6 months (although was told 4-5 months) received 2 of the windows. My third window, now at 7 1/2 months has still not arrived and cold weather is coming. I have called Marvin multiple times and been told several stories, and the Marvin dealers is also in the dark. I was guaranteed my window was scheduled for delivery finally a week ago and when it did not arrived I called and was told oops it was taken off the truck, no explanation and no one,. even my dealer, was told.

Never received windows ordered 29 weeks ago (more than 6 months)

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We paid up front as required in March for 3 windows from Marvin. We were told by Marvin's dealer delivery was running about 8-12 weeks.

As we got close to the 12 week (giving the farthest date presuming we would be told if it was later) we started to set up our carpenter and painter. After numerous calls we were told it would be more like 16 weeks so we told our tradesmen. As we approached 16 weeks were were told told after we called numerous times again that now it would be more like 20-22 weeks. I then spoke with Marvin's regional supervisor, Paul, for our dealer.

Paul said although the dealer was in his region since April he had never spoken to or been in contact with our dealer. I explained the issue to Paul who said he really could not help as he had no control on deliveries and I should call Minnesota. I spoke with Gary multiple times in Marvin's Minnesota location and was told that actually it would be more like 26-28 weeks. We received 2 of the windows in the 26 week time period but the 3rd never arrived.

I again spoke with Gary and expressed frustration and wanted the window. Gary checked with manufacturing and was assured the window would be on the truck for delivery 9/26 (a 28 week delay) We are now going into week 29, no window was delivered and Gary said oops the window was taken off the truck but "no one was told". For a company that claimed repeatedly they communicate all delays I think this was evidence that was untrue and may have been untrue all the way along. I plan to file complaints with the state and federal agencies governing interstate commerce and online purchasing and payments requiring informed delays.

I am now unsure when or if my window was ever manufactured and or delivered. DO NOT BUY FROM MARVIN.

Marvin Windows And Doors - Poor customer service
Marvin Windows And Doors - Poor customer service - Image 2

Replaced slider for Marvins Coast Line French doors January 2023. Took five months for doors to arrive.

Installer from window company( not Marvin) was fantastic and noticed the holes that came drilled from factory were too large. Marvin sent rep out, he was rude to the point he put a nick in the glass of one door. Marvin factory sent new side rails, only for holes to be too large again. Here we are at June 2,2023 and service guys are here putting new side rails on the doors without checking to see if holes will be covered by handles.

Theyve put nothing up to cover opening and already its been over three hours.

So our whole house is being flooded with mosquitoes. Marvin only cares about the money not the customers.

Amazing Exteriors ordered the incorrect color of windows and doors and thresholds. After attempting to correct this for 3 years, now they said that Marvin Window Corp. refuses to manufacture and replace the correct color. I would like to launch a formal complaint. Paul Orcutt m.d.

I have had the exact same issue with entire house of fiberglass all ultrex Integrity Marvin windows. Tech has been out three times.

Marvin has now thrown in the towel and basically told me to upgrade if I want better. Said there is nothing they can do. Meanwhile my house is freezing and drafty. Should have kept my old vinyl windows.

Very upset. I want a different brand. Not to pay Marvin more money for more Marvin windows, plus installation costs. Very very disappointed as a MN native and customer.

Essential / ultrex / integrity should NOT be sold into cold weather climates. Period.

Avoid at all cost. Please.

Crappiest Windows and service I've ever had

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Marvin Windows And Doors - Crappiest Windows and service I've ever had

I typically don't write bad reviews but people need to be warned. I built a new home for over 750k and went with the Ultimate Marvin Windows at a HUGE cost over the top of the line Anderson Windows.

These windows look pretty, but that's all they have going for them. Right after installation in April 2022 I pointed out to the installer that 6 of the 17 windows didn't seal worth a hoot because I could see daylight between the seals and frame. My general contractor contacted Kropf Lumber, Hesston, KS since this is where the windows were purchased. They came out and looked at the windows and determined that it seemed like a manufacturer issue with the seals and told me they had contacted Marvin for a solution.

After repeated phone calls and emails to Kropf Lumber for 6 months I was finally given a case # told someone from Marvin would be in contact with me within 7 business days. It has been more than 14 days now and still nothing. Marvin is evidently as reliable as their windows. Not only do the seals suck, but the overall efficiency does too.

You can feel cold air by every window. Even the ones where I can't see the daylight between the seals. When I built my previous house I went with the Anderson Eagle Windows and you couldn't feel any temperature difference when you walked by a window. That's how windows are supposed to be!

Beware before going with Marvin!

Come to KS and see what crap I have before you spend even $5 with them. I expect to have to file lawsuits against both Marvin windows and Kropf Lumber to get a resolution.

Pros:
  • Look pretty
Cons:
  • No contact from marvin windows
  • Leaky seals
  • Not efficient

Preferred solution: defective windows replaced.

I just spent 180k on windows with marvin , all new siding lp top of the line . I installed them myself I have installed 100s of windows on other houses I have built.

Got double hung, casement, etc all the windows in the 11,000sqft home are all 63 inches or taller . First rain evert window damn near leaks at the mitter seams a normal person wouldn't notice bit I do cause I know betterbas well the old marvin windows that were in there had rotted out after 10 years and leaked in to the sills and caused alot of damage all rot replaced etc. Since old windows did it i knew to look out for leaks and kept walls open . The knuckle heads at rhe factory didn't glue or silicone inside of frames .

Now I have a nightmare where I have to rip out all the windows, sidding and pit new ones in . I would have been better off going to menards for 1/4 of the price never had a window leak there. Only God knows how many peoples marvin windows are leaking from poor manufacturing. Price sed not worth what u get theu look good but absolute *** I am fummikg cause now I can't do anything else in the house Tull new windows come in and hopefully next batchare not leaking 90 + windows total fiberglass exterior wood interior.

Black exterior that look sharp but *** quality . I have a 11000 sqft mansion I'm remodeling to live in . Wated 5 months for windows to get garbage.

No guality control horrible windows .. better off going to menards and getting better windows a fraction of the price .

We just had this experience with Pella... but they're refusing to replace them.

2 years of back and forth.

The Marvin's that were in the house when we bought it were all rotted, the framing and floors all damaged because of them. I was debating buying Marvin again, hoping they had gotten better, clearly not the case.

So you don’t make the same mistake I did

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Yeah they have been a total POS company and I literally want to smash my slider doors every time I try to use their cheap weirdly small locking mechanism.

Every one of their doors (we bought 6) feels flimsy and loose. They are a nightmare to lock and The handles giggle.

And the metal scuffes so easily. They really are crap for the price (The window seem fine so far too early to tell) We had no choice when we placed our order because the windows he wanted were way too far out big surprise these guys had more availability. Im at least going to replace my sliding doors that cost me a lot of money by the way. Oh and they also sold us a defective window that the loser installer they referred to us installed.

We didnt realize it until it rained and water was dripping into the house. So they admitted that it was a factory default they finally sent somebody else to rip out the window mind you they want to rip out the entire huge window right after we finally finish getting stucco. We told them just take out the bottom piece from the inside of the house which they paid the same company to do that. Guess who got left with the bill to replace the drywall?

Yeah according to them its not their fault because even though it was a factory defect and the window was put together incorrectly the installer they recommended we use should have known better and shouldnt have installed it.

Its like they know that youre in the middle of a remodel or a build and are so overwhelmed with all the stuff that they just treat you like crap and do the bare minimum knowing that youre just gonna eventually move on because you just want it to be over. If there is ever a lawsuit against these crooks I would happily join

We ordered a large palladium window ($6K) from Marvin and it took approximately one year for it to arrive. Okay, it was during the pandemic so we waited patiently for its arrival.

The window was installed and it looks terrific. No complaints here. We wanted to slowly update to all Marvin windows over the course of the next three years. We recently went down to order seven Marvin inserts at a cost of approximately $13, 500.

We were initially told these would take approximately five months for for their arrival. I said okay lets order. I received an email the next day from the retailer stating that they would need the $13k upfront and that they could not guarantee when these windows would be made or delivered. Unlike the palladium window, I did not have to put any money down.

I offered to put down $1,000 on the $13k order but I was told that it was the policy to get all money up front. I love the Marvin products but the execution of producing and delivering the products to the consumer are not only untimely but ridiculous. Why anyone would turn thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars over without receiving some issuance of a receiving date of the products is crazy. Needless to say, I am sorry that we will not be purchasing another seventeen windows from our Marvin dealer.

I read the general manager's frustration in his emails explaining the situation to me.

However, I cannot believe that the typical consumer is willing or able to wait for a product without some guarantee of a delivery date. I may be dating myself, but the old saying, "Time is Money" was very true when first coined and still is.
