Overpriced junk

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We spent a ton of money on Marvin windows. We fell in love with the modern wood patio sliding door after spending 3 years looking for a door we liked.

We bought wood windows for the main part of the house (living, family, dinning) and fiberglass for the bedrooms to help with humidity issue. They look lovely. Performance wise? Awful.

The air pours in with the fiberglass windows. We even used a thermal scanner and saw just how bad the fiberglass sliders leaked. Windows this bad should not be allowed to be sold. In Europe they wouldn't be!

So come on America! Why do we have overpriced junk? We looked at all the big window names, and anything worth anything isn't sold in Illinois. Out West you have real options for energy star windows.

Here? You have to buy vinyl or have a builder that imports windows from Europe.

Avoid these things. Waste of $ on inefficient junk.

Horrible customer service

I spent over 50K on Marvin doors and windows. I placed an order on Oct 16 and at the time of my order the lead time was 8 to 10 weeks. I was supposed to receive the doors and windows by the end of Dec. then they delayed and said they will ship it something around Jan 16, then again delayed it and as of Feb 4 I couldn't get a definite ETA for my order. Just a few min ago the dealer emailed me a new delivery date of Feb 28! 4.5 months after I placed the order. Marvin customer service has no clue about anything, they never informed me of the delays ahead of time or even can answer a simple question of locating my order just a total mess. I would never ever order Marvin again!

We experienced similar delays. Almost 6 months and the quality was substandard.

Parts missing, wrong color hardware (literally two color hinges on the same door), etc. This company has become an absolute joke and I can't understand how they claim to sell a premium product.

Rotting sillls on Marvin wondows

Went to open a Marvin casement in my home. Crank mechanism pulled rotted wood right out of sill! I replaced all of the windows in my home with high end Marvin wooden windows. Several have rotted. They were installed about 15 years ago, but should the wood rot out with normal use? I am annoyed. Anyone ever use a window repair company to replace rotted wood on sill?

Dissatisfied customer

We replaced our back door thru this company. Our old door measured 80 inches.

They replaced it with a 79 1/2 in. custom door for reasons no one has been able to explain to us. It created an issue because our screen door could not be put back on causing us to have to buy a custom made screen door (standard door will not fit as they are 80 inches) which will cost an addition $850. We feel the company mismeasured and or did not take into consideration the screen door would not fit even after measuring twice by 2 different people and would like some type of reimbursement towards a new screen door.

We have purchased every single window and door thru this company, spending tens of thousands of dollars. We have had the door for a few weeks now and no one has yet to reached out to us for a solution or an explanation.

Terrible Windows

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
House built in 2009, we spent a lot on Marvin windows and doors. Some began to rot in 2015 and even though they were within warranty period, I had to initiate a lawsuit to get Marvin to honor the warranty. Their customer service is appalling. Do not buy Marvin products.

I've had a similar experience. A window started to leak and to find someone in the Des Moines, IA area to fix it has been nearly impossible.

Our windows were purchased through Moehl Millworks in Ankeny by a contractor.

Unless you're a high dollar window installer, Moehl doesn't have the time for you. I'm still tying to find someone to fix it.

Rude Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I called about getting a little help, to get the right parts for some Marvin Integrity windows. I am the current Director of Facilities for a school district and one of the builds we did about 12 years ago, used this window. We have around 150 of them, they are starting to fail, parts are breaking off so now the windows won't stay open, or they just won't open. The rudeness I received from the regional service dept. was uncalled-for! I will just figure this all out on my own and from here on out for future builds at this school or even this town, I will recommend not using this manufacturer. If you sell a product, stand by it!

Just don't. This is how they delivered doors to make up for their mistakes. And the stars are the transom attached to the top of a patio door. Pretty!

Dissapointed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We built a new home in 1993. We had 22 windows and a patio door installed.

We began to see mold/dark coloring around windows and patio door. A representative came to our home and he said they would replace a couple of windows and the patio door. After a couple of mix ups they replaced the door and windows. Sometime after that we noticed more windows molding and they ask us to send pictures.

We did and they said they looked just fine...they did not look fine. Now our second patio door is molding and all of our windows. Some of the wood is rotting and falling off in chunks. We are an elderly, retired couple who does not have money to replace all of our windows and patio door.

Marvin does NOT care.

They got their money and shut the door on us. We will tell ALL people we know and more NOT TO BUY MARVIN!

Huge Problem with Windows and No Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased three Marvin Integrity windows. After professional installation one window couldn't be opened at all and the other two were extremely difficult to move as well. Contractor rechecked installations, removed all foam, released nail fin, and windows moved no better. Have been waiting over a week just to get an appointment for a service rep to come. Home is a mess with moved furniture, and contractor left up staging so rep could inspect installation. Extremely poor customer service. Won't even return calls.

I also have the identical situation. I own an entire house full of Marvin Windows that started rotting about 5 years after we built our new home.

All I ever got from this company was a runaround. They no longer make replacement parts and offer no solutions other than an offer to sell more of their inferior product. This company is a total con job. If I had knowingly purchased junk windows from some discount store, then I would have said I have myself to blame, However, I did not .

I bought Marvin Windows because they were marketed as a superior product, along with a pretty lofty price. What a Sham!

Marvin...not much help.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I bought a home built in 1991. Marvin windows. The wooden sills on most of the dozen operating casement windows has rotted. I emailed Marvin for some suggestions about replacing the sills. Their response was, sorry mister, but you are out of luck. Your problem, not Marvin. I found where there had been a class action lawsuit long time ago, that Marvin settled. There needs to be another.

Patio doors are really bad products. Customer service is no support.

Marvin Windows And Doors - Patio doors are really bad products. Customer service is no support.
My builder installed 3 Marvin patio doors in a new home. Within 4 years you could not even open some of the doors. All the doors would not work properly and adjusting the hinges did not work. The builder inspected the doors and said the product was bad and replaced them with new doors. After another 5 years the same problem occurred. The doors are not useable. My last email from Marvin customer service had a one sentence reply. "We are not sending someone out at no charge."

Condensation

We recently purchased a Marvin Integrity window for our home. We know that some condensation is normal. However, the new window has water dripping in the morning (outside only). The window has a southern exposure and in direct sunlight for most of the day. We lower our thermostat to 68 degrees at night. Our other windows on east and north side of the house have some exterior condensation, but nothing like the new south window. Is this normal?
